Lottie's Creamery - An East Bay Favorite

Walnut Creek is a beautiful little city. Sitting at just shy of 70,000 residents, Walnut Creek is the perfect spot for an easy hike or date night. I live about 40 minutes away from here, not close, but certainly not far, so when I make my way to Broadway Plaza for shopping or Havana for dinner, it feels like a treat. Speaking of a treat, it’s almost impossible for me to leave the city without stopping by one of the cutest (and most delicious) ice cream shops in the bay area.

Lottie’s Creamery has been serving the Walnut Creek and Danville areas for a few years now. With flavors like Brown Sugar & Cream, and Fresh Mint Chocolate Chip, Lottie’s places a huge emphasis on quality. Their owners, Tal & Alex, both have extensive experience within the food space, Tal with 30 years of experience within culinary spaces and Alex in his 15 years as a pastry chef. Both their staple and seasonal flavors scream excellence, one of the reasons you’re likely to find a line out of their door at all times.

When you walk into the shop, it’s simply fun. With handwritten signs and accompanying pictures, you’ll immediately know this shop is handled with care. The staff is a delight, educating the customers on each flavor and eagerly giving out their recommendations. And if you’re on the run, grab a pint to go. Their pints are handpacked and since this is a small batch shop, your ice cream is certain to be as fresh as you can get.

Cookied & Cream will always be my go to BUT I mentioned it before, try their Fresh Mint Chocolate Chip. Most people (including me) making their Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream with some kind of mint extract. Not Lottie’s! They’ve found an amazing balance of flavor and freshness with this one. Also, make sure you sample one of their seasonal flavors. As I’m looking at their flavors right now they have a Creme Fraiche Fig Swirl, Pear Prosecco Sorbet, and an Apples & Honey that I’m dying to try. Too adventurous? They also have a Vanilla Bean for you!

So next time you’re about to leave Walnut Creek, don’t leave without stopping by Lottie’s. Also, check out their Danville location, grab a scoop and sit on their patio. Between the service and the flavors, you really can’t go wrong here.
